#OOTD: Old World, New Look

After trying to decide what to wear to a boozy city brunch at Poco Restaurant, I was inspired by my vintage lace-embroidered choker. I purchased this choker at a thrift shop in Brooklyn for $11 dollars (definitely worth the more than reasonable price!) and I had been dying to wear it ever since.

I wanted to mimic the choker’s vintage, almost Victorian look with a top that looked both old-worldly and delicate, preferably with a neckline that left room for the long necklace to hang naturally. While I was first drawn to something a little more simple because the necklace was so elaborate, I ended up choosing a light, off-the-shoulder peasant top with embroidered lace at the neckline. The cream color and the lightness of the top created a nice contrast with the dark and delicate nature of the necklace.

This idea of contrast made deciding on the rest of my outfit a lot more simple. I finished my ensemble with a mini leather skirt, giving my look a little extra edginess among all the lace detailing. In terms of accessories, I sported my favorite Valentino bag and my Sienna Alexander London sunglasses.

Ultimately, my #OOTD tip is create some exciting contrast in your next look! Don’t be afraid to go daring with a detailed top, a nighttime-inspired bottom or a statement accessory. Make the look your own and work it all day while you wear it!

Until next time,
